1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser; local storage is a similar place in your browser. This policy lists the ones GIA Connect really uses. It complements the Privacy Policy.
2. What we use and for how long
Cookies fall into four categories: Necessary (always on, they cannot be switched off), Preferences, Statistics and Marketing (the last three only with your consent). Today everything listed below is Necessary (including the functional features you ask for by using them); we do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and if we introduce them they will load only after you accept them.
- GIASESS (cookie): keeps you signed in, protects forms against forgery and shows you confirmation messages. Duration: up to 30 days. Type: strictly necessary.
- lang (cookie): remembers the language you chose. Duration: 1 year. Type: necessary for the language of the site.
- age_ok (cookie): remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or over, so we do not ask again. Duration: 1 year. Type: necessary (age rule).
- gia_dev (cookie): an anonymous identifier set when you register, used only to stop the same person from taking the welcome pack many times. It is saved on our side only as a hash. Duration: 1 year. Type: necessary for security and fairness.
- gia_consent (cookie): remembers your cookie choice, so we do not ask you at every visit. Duration: 12 months. Type: necessary.
- gia_geo_x (cookie): remembers that you closed the “distributed only in Romania” banner, so it does not show again. Duration: 1 year. Type: functional, chosen by you.
- gia_ref (cookie): remembers the code of the friend who invited you, until you create an account. It is set only if you arrived through an invitation link. Duration: 30 days. Type: functional.
- gia_pstore (cookie): keeps the code of the partner store whose poster you scanned, until you create an account. It is set only if you arrive from a partner store QR code. Duration: 30 days. Type: functional.
- gia_preview (cookie): used only by people who receive a preview link from us, before the launch. Duration: 30 days. Type: strictly necessary for that access; it does not apply to collectors.
- gia_trust (cookie): set only if you tick “Remember this device for 30 days” at the two-factor step, so we do not ask for the code again on that device. Duration: 30 days. Type: functional, chosen by you.
- GIAADM (cookie): used only by our staff in the admin area. Duration: a working session. Type: strictly necessary; it does not apply to collectors.
- ftr-radio (local storage): remembers the state of the radio (playing, volume). Type: functional, kept in your browser only.
- cardvideo-volume (local storage): remembers the volume you set for card videos. Type: functional, kept in your browser only.
- ftr-acc-collapsed (local storage): remembers whether you collapsed the account menu. Type: functional, kept in your browser only.
- ftr-co-qty (session storage): keeps the quantities in your basket when you change the language at checkout. Duration: until you close the tab. Type: functional.
3. Cookies of other parties
We do not place third-party cookies. When you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, or you pay on the page of our payment processor, you leave our site and those parties may use their own cookies, under their own policies.
4. Consent and your choices
The first time you visit, a banner offers three equal choices: “Accept all”, “Refuse optional” and “Settings”. Necessary cookies do not need consent; nothing optional is loaded before you choose. We store your choice in a necessary cookie (gia_consent, 12 months) and in a log with an anonymous identifier (or your account, if you are signed in), the categories you chose, the version of this policy, the date and your IP address truncated (the last part removed). After 12 months, or when this policy changes in a way that needs a new choice, the banner appears again. You can change your choice at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer or, if you have an account, from Account → Settings.
5. How to delete or block cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the necessary ones, parts of the platform (signing in, the language, the age confirmation) will not work.
