How to start a digital collection, step by step

Updated:

If you have landed here, you probably wonder where a digital collection begins. The good news is that there are only a few steps and you can take them at your own pace. Below is a simple order, from a first look at the catalog to your first trades with other collectors.

Step 1: browse the catalog

Before anything else, look at what exists. The catalog presents the FTR 2050 collection: 500 vehicles imagined for the future, from 40 brands. You can open the page of each card, with its specifications. You do not need an account for this.

Step 2: create your account

To keep your cards you need a free account. You choose a collector name, confirm your email address and you are set. The platform is intended for people aged 18 and over, and for now FTR 2050 is available only in Romania. If you are in another country, you can leave your city so we can let you know when we get there.

New accounts that meet the terms of the active offer receive, once the email is verified, a free pack of 10 cards. The full rules are in the account perks.

Step 3: open your first pack

A pack contains 10 cards, each with a different number. The content stays hidden until you open it, and the cards go straight to your album. Every collector receives cards from all 4 rarity levels (Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary), in the same proportion, according to the rules published in the Terms.

Step 4: build your album

The album is where you see your progress. Cards are arranged on pages, and the ones you are missing are still to be completed. You can set small goals: complete all the cards of a manufacturer, of a rarity or a whole page. For some of these, the platform awards badges.

Step 5: make trades

Do you have two copies of the same card? Then you have a duplicate, and duplicates are the material of trades. A trade is card for card, between collectors, never for money, and the app shows who has what you are missing. A trade is completed in full or not at all.

If nobody has the card you are looking for, you can swap 5 duplicates of the same rarity with the platform for one missing card of that rarity.

A few tips for the start

  • Start with a small goal, such as a single album page or a single manufacturer.
  • Read the card sheets: the specifications make the collection more interesting than the number alone.
  • Check the account perks page from time to time to see what is active.
  • Set a budget and stick to it. A collection is a hobby, and the joy is in the journey, not in the rush.

Where to find help

The full rules, answers to frequent questions and the legal documents are in the help section. If you want to understand the rarity levels better, read the guide FTR 2050 rarities.

How to organise your time

You do not need hours. A good habit is to glance at your account once a week: open the packs you received, see which free perks are active and check whether you have trade proposals. The rest of the time you can spend browsing the catalog or reading the vehicle sheets, with no rush at all.

Common mistakes at the start

  • Rushing. A collection is not finished in a day. If you rush, you lose exactly the enjoyable part.
  • Unread rules. A few minutes in the help section save you many doubts, especially about trades.
  • Account security. Turn on two-step verification if the platform suggests it, and never share your password. An account is personal.
  • Comparing with others. The leaderboard is a reference point, not an obligation. Every collector has their own pace and budget.

What comes after the first cards

Once you have a few cards, the album starts to take shape. That is when the interesting questions appear: which manufacturer you like most, which rarity level you want to complete first, who you could trade with. The answers will guide you better than any list of tips.

A final thought

A good collection is the one you enjoy. There is no mandatory order, no “correct” pace and nobody to answer to. Start with what appeals to you and let the rest come along the way.
